DNSRadar is an independent diagnostic tool for checking how public DNS resolvers answer a domain or fully qualified domain name. It was built for system administrators, developers, domain owners and support teams who need evidence from more than one recursive resolver.
A DNS change does not become visible everywhere at the same instant. Recursive caches expire at different times, providers follow different network paths and individual resolvers may fail independently. DNSRadar keeps those answers separate instead of hiding them behind a single combined result.
Each check records the resolver, reported location, returned value, status and measured latency. The automatic summary highlights consistency or partial propagation, while permanent links and exports make results easier to share in migration plans and support cases.
Who maintains it
DNSRadar is maintained as an independent technical project for DNS troubleshooting. The product decisions are based on common operational workflows: hosting migrations, mail-provider changes, CDN cutovers, DNSSEC failures and support cases where a single local resolver is not enough evidence.
Editorial approach
Guides are written to support practical DNS diagnosis, not to repeat definitions without context. Pages include terminal examples, failure modes and links to the relevant checker so readers can reproduce the investigation with their own domains.
Operational principles
- Independent answers: resolvers are queried individually and in parallel.
- Useful limits: slow resolvers are timed out so one provider does not block the whole check.
- Transparent output: errors and missing answers are shown rather than silently discarded.
- No guarantee of authority: results reflect recursive resolver responses and should be combined with authoritative DNS diagnostics during incidents.
Maintenance and corrections
